In this role, this leader is charged with leading our underwriting for our Media & Creative Industries E&O products.
This is an exciting opportunity to build on our strong market position and drive new insurance solutions for micro, small, and middle market media businesses in both our Digital and Intermediated channels.
The role reports to the SVP, Underwriting Management.
Key Responsibilities include:
Leadership and collaboration across the organization.
Appetite, Risk Selection, FormsLimits, Aggregation, Emerging Risk AssessmentUnderwriter Authority Management and TrainingMarket Monitoring and Thought LeadershipProfitable GrowthDefining a competitive appetite to enable profitable growth.
Implementing a strategy to qualify, select and assess risk which aligns with robust underwriting controls.
Building and maintaining underwriting tools for risk evaluation, including applications, guidelines, risk scoring, and utilization of first and third party data.
Ensuring Forms are fit for competitive and risk management purposes.
Technical ExcellenceSetting individual risk, concentration risk and aggregate limit strategies.
Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting insurance underwriting and make recommendations for adjustments to policies and practices in conjunction with Product Management function.
Setting training agenda for team.
Delivering technical training as needed.
Setting target Referral Trigger Strategy and Referral Volume metrics.
Collaborating with Claims, Actuarial, and Product Management to ensure challenges and opportunities in our loss ratios are identified timely and acted upon.
Connected Communication & Customer Centricity:
Development and delivery of an underwriting roadmap - taking into consideration feedback and priorities of internal stakeholders.
Engagement with internal and external distribution partners to execute the business plan, maintain a pulse on the trading environment and drive product development.
Building credibility as a subject matter expert on strategic underwriting issues and acts as the underwriting spokesperson in the industry.
Ensuring product and services resonate with customer whether placed directly with Hiscox or through intermediaries.
Encourages continuous improvement of results to increase productivity, profitability and ensure standards set by Underwriting Excellence are met.
Foster a spirit of inclusion and collaboration that reflects the Hiscox Values.
Develop best practices to encourage knowledge sharing of Healthcare portfolio and across wider Underwriting teams.
Collaborates across the organization to drive profitable growth agenda.
Continuously improves the business.
Minimum 7 years Media underwriting experience, with preference toward underwriting / P&L management in recent years.
