Chemistry/Immunology Supervisor Position Summary Under supervision of the chemistry supervisor, applies practical and theoretical knowledge of clinical chemistry as it applies to point of care testing activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Position overlaps all areas where point of care testing takes place, on-site, and off-site.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
1.
Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
2.
Oversees all aspects of point of care operation and testing, 3.
Point of care validation and quality measures 4.
Oversees the quality assurance and proficiency testing programs for point of care.
5.
Ensures the point of care instrument interface is maintained and operational.
6.
Performs dictionary maintenance on point of care interface.
7.
Acts as liaison between lab and nursing leadership as it relates to point of care testing to assure regulatory compliance of point of care testing personnel.
8.
Review all point of care reports.
9.
Ensure regulatory requirements are met regarding proper use of point of care testing.
10.
Assists with staff training as required.
11.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements New York State Medical Technologist license required.
B.
S.
degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Science.
ASCP or NCA certification preferred.

Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access).
A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
Ability to move about the lab and outside offices frequently.
Travel to outside offices required on periodic basis, as needed.
